A detailed 80-page guide to (re)designing an interface on a budget and tight deadlines. A must-have cheat sheet for companies and startups without a designer.

A significant part of my job at Outframe.co involves redesigning interfaces that were built by companies without a dedicated designer, or with someone less experienced or affordable. Often, I’m approached by startups, indie hackers, and early-stage companies operating on tight budgets. They want beautiful, intuitive designs but can’t afford a professional designer.

Realizing they didn’t have the resources to hire a freelancer, startup founders and company owners often asked me for practical, actionable design tips they could implement themselves. Many of these people are friends, former colleagues, or online acquaintances.

This led me to compile these insights into what I now call a “ very long cheat sheet.” This cheat sheet is for companies without designers, offering them a foundation to start crafting appealing user interfaces independently.

These guidelines are part of my go-to strategies, and while other designers may have different approaches, I’ve found these methods to yield great results under low budgets consistently.
